Keep Your International Traffic By Using Google Translate

So you have a successful blog or website and noticed that you get quite a bit of international traffic. You know that these visitors are struggling to even read your English based site. So what do you do to keep them loyal and wanting them to keep coming back for more?

You can hire translators to do the conversion of your entire content but that could be expensive and an ongoing endeavor, especially if people from many countries are visiting your site. Also, you'll have to internationalize your entire website for each language replacing all the text strings from English to the language of choice.

A better solution is use the Google Translate widget. Simply insert the Javascript code into your page template and let all your pages being internationalized with a click of a button.

To let your readers know that the web page can be translated, put the widget at the top of the page in the header region just like I am doing here on this site.

I only wish more foreign websites would install the Google Translate widget. That way I could read news from China, blogs from Japan and such. Hopefully it will catch on.

Note:
- Firefox 4 users, you can install the Quick Translator add-on which uses Google Translate.
